For many, life as we know it has been put on pause. Schools are closing and employees are being encouraged to work from home, if at all possible, until further notice. Social distancing has become the new norm. Amid all of the uncertainty, here are nine encouraging quotes about COVID-19 from Christian leaders:

Thousands of Christians around the globe have joined together to pray for Hillsong worship leader Chelsea Taylor after she was admitted to the hospital Sunday morning. Taylor helped lead worship at Hillsong’s main campus in Sydney, Australia and then appeared to become sick. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, CBN News reports.

Last week, following the high profile falling away from faith of Joshua Harris, former Hillsong singer and songwriter Marty Sampson posted this on Instagram: “Time for some real talk…I’m genuinely losing my faith…and it doesn’t bother me.”

The next day he deleted this post and clarified that he hasn’t fully renounced Christianity, at least not yet. Still, he admitted, his faith was quite shaky. He then reiterated his doubts and said that “the majority of a typical Christian’s life is not spent considering these things” because they fall into the “too hard basket.”

Sampson’s claims, I’m sad to say, are not uncommon among young evangelicals.

A common question for many is, "Can I lose my salvation?" I’ve heard both sides of the argument, and only God truly knows a person’s heart, but I can share a few thoughts. The reason there is a debate is because the Scriptures teach that salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned, but they also offer warnings about falling away. There should be a healthy tension between God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility. This issue should not create a spirit of division, elitism, or theological superiority.

Following the tragic shootings over the weekend that left nearly 30 people dead, Christian author and speaker Beth Moore took to Twitter to implore pastors to condemn white nationalism.

This past year, 2018, brought a number of great losses among our nation’s leaders, both evangelically and politically. These godly, courageous men and women who have been dearly loved and followed by many over decades of time, finished their course here on earth and left this world for their heavenly homes. Though their presence is no longer with us, they have each left a unique and amazing legacy of light and servanthood among us.

As we remember the impact and influence of their lives this new year, may God help us to live out our own days with His renewed purpose and grace. May He enable us to fulfill His calling and live a life of service and love as each one of these leaders has so incredibly demonstrated.
