After an Ohio professor was disciplined by his university for declining to use a transgender student’s preferred personal pronouns, he filed a lawsuit. The federal suit against the university was dismissed in February and now the professor is appealing the dismissal.
A new wave of studies in recent years paints a rosy picture about the benefits of medical transitions for people with gender dysphoria. So much so that, as Paul Dirks recently wrote at Public Discourse, “lifelong experimental medicalization, sterilization, and complete removal of healthy body parts ... is no longer a rarity. It is the recommended treatment for gender dysphoria.”
Former NBA all-star Dwyane Wade talked about his 12-year-old child's gender transition with Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts yesterday. “Myself and my family, we love the fact that she doesn’t have to hide who she is,” he said. He added that Zaya, who was originally named Zion and born a boy, has “known it for nine years, since she was three years old.”
