Two Reasons for Unpopular Polls

July 18, 2010

The polls keep getting worse for President Obama. A new Washington Post/ABC News poll has found nearly 6 in 10 Americans have "just some" or little confidence in the president to make right decisions for the country. They give even lower marks to congressional Republicans and Democrats, who register 73 percent in the "just some" or little confidence category.

There are at least two reasons for this: one is that politicians promise too much and when they can't deliver, the public becomes angry and cynical. Reason number tw too many expect too much from government and when government is unable to deliver, people get angry and cynical about government.

Ninety percent of the country see the state of the economy as not good or poor. The president can continue blaming former President Bush, or he could do something about it. I'm betting on the blaming part because what he is doing is making things worse. How many days until the November election? Are you voting to turn things around? You'd better.
