The Legacy of 8:28

August 27, 2010

Glenn Beck is holding a rally tomorrow in Washington. The date is August 28. It's about restoring honor to America and the crowd is expected to be large. Al Sharpton will hold a counter-rally. Beck is accused of trying to hijack the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. He says he wasn't aware of that anniversary when he selected the date. I believe him.

I'm all for restoring honor to America, but Washington and politics is not the way to do it. Honor comes from those who are honorable. 1 Samuel 2:30 says, "He who honors me, I will honor." We must honor God first before we obtain honor.

There's another meaning to 8:28. It's found in the book of Romans, you know it: "All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to his purpose." Lots of prerequisites there. Love God first and then things work together for good.

Let's allow God to take us back and then honor and restoration may follow.
