Losing the Demographics War

December 4, 2006

Women are finding it more acceptable to have an abortion than to drift into an unplanned pregnancy, according to the head of Britain’s largest abortion agency. One British woman in five is now childless at the age of 45 and more are making the choice not to have children at all.

Meanwhile, our enemies are reproducing at a rapid clip. More than one billion Muslims are having large families, not only throughout the Arab and Muslim world, but in the west, where increasing numbers of them now live. It’s called demographics and we are losing the demographic war.

There’s another part to this story. The pro-abortion woman says the stigma surrounding abortion has diminished. There’s a word we haven’t heard in a long time: stigma. A stigma once kept us from doing a lot of things we should not do. It was about reputation, honor and virtue. It was about not dishonoring our parents, or god. Today, stigma has vanished. People have children out of wedlock, or abort them; they flaunt lifestyles that once were in the closet; women curse as badly as men. No stigma; too bad.
