Debate to Cut War Funding Embarrases Congress

April 26, 2007

The spectacle taking place in the House and Senate yesterday and today is unreal. Senate and House Democrats – with a few notable exceptions – are doing all they can to embolden the enemy in Iraq and terrorists around the world by attempting to cutoff funds for the war. This is a cruel and blatant effort to pacify the radical left which now runs the democratic party, to their shame.

Thank God for senator Joe Lieberman, who understands the stakes better than even some republicans. He is not joining the defeat and retreat crowd.

Imagine this happening during World War Two or Korea, or for that matter, World War One. The party opposite to the one represented in the White House would never have voted for a measure that under funds and undermines our troops while they are in harm’s way. This can only put them in greater danger as terrorist leaders tell their suicide warriors it won’t be much longer and to fight on.

I am embarrassed for these people who have lost any sense of shame and care only about winning the next election, not winning the war.
