CIA Says Terrorists Have Plans for U.S.

I just finished reading a novel about Islamic terrorists who get their hands on nuclear weapons and wipe out Washington, D.C.  It was well-written and frightening, and I literally could not put it down.

Then I pick up yesterday’s Washington Times and read a story by Bill Gertz about how al Qaeda terrorists and related groups are set to use chemical, biological and nuclear weapons in deadly strikes against America.

According to an unclassified CIA internal report last month, “al Qaeda’s goal is (to use these weapons) to cause mass casualties.”

In the meantime, says the memo, “Most attacks by the group – and especially by associated extremists – probably will be small-scale, incorporating relatively crude delivery means and easily produced or obtained chemicals, toxins or radiological substances.”

The memo says terrorists have a “wide variety of potential agents and delivery means to choose from.”

Unfortunately, this story isn’t a fictional one.  It’s not a novel.   This is fact.

Let us hope – and pray – that our government is on top of all of this and is seeking to get them before they can get us.

I’m Cal Thomas in Washington.
