Arming Syrian Rebels is a Mistake

The Obama administration has decided to arm the Syrian rebels after the Assad regime crossed the president's so-called "red line" and used chemical weapons.

The rebels have pledged their allegiance to al Qaeda and its replacement for Osama bin Laden.

Given U.S. support for the ousting of Egypt's Hosni Mubarak, which led to the Muslim Brotherhood takeover of the country, our toppling of Moammar Gadhafi in Libya, with what is likely to be a similar outcome, and not forgetting what Jimmy Carter did with the Shah of Iran in the late 1970s, which led to the crazies now running that country, why are we repeating those mistakes?

The president reportedly wants to bring thousands of Syrian refugees to America, where they will build mosques or associate with those already built, and bring with them radical ideas.

This isn't a reach-out effort to Muslims. It's a reach-in infiltration by Muslims. This president is undermining the strength of America in so many ways.

I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
