A former drug addict who found himself in the throes of suicidal depression has come to Jesus and been baptized. Just two months ago, 27-year-old Jacob Palmer was readying himself to jump off a bridge in Virginia Beach, Va, after his life was left in tatters from years of drug and alcohol addiction.
Here’s a scenario: a same-sex couple or someone openly living in a same-sex relationship starts to attend your church. Maybe they’ve got a child from another relationship or a child conceived through IVF. Because your church practices infant baptism, they ask to have their child baptized. What do you do?
Baptist: it’s one of the most well-known denominations in Protestant Christianity and aptly named after its main belief in believer’s baptism, where a person chooses to publicly proclaim their faith in Christ by baptism.
There are some 50 million Baptists in the U.S. alone, making it one of the largest groups of Protestants in the nation.
