CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY DECEMBER 5, 2001

THE DEATH OF FORMER BEATLE GEORGE HARRISON HAS GOT THE MEDIA IN A TIZZY NOT SEEN SINCE THE DEATH OF PRINCESS DIANA. NOW, I LOVED THE BEATLES AND I HAVE ALL OF THEIR RECORDINGS. AT LEAST I LOVED THEM BEFORE THEY STARTED SINGING ABOUT DRUGS AND EASTERN RELIGION.

HARRISON’S CONTEMPORARIES ARE WRITING SILLY ESSAYS ABOUT THEIR OWN MORTALITY AND HOW THE BOOMERS NEVER THOUGHT THEY WOULD DIE AND HOW HARRISON’S DEATH HAS REALLY AFFECTED THEM. WHAT BALONEY!

DON’T THEY READ THE OBITUARIES? HAVE THEY NEVER VISITED A CEMETERY? THEY SHOULD CONSULT SCRIPTURE: “IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MAN ONCE TO DIE, AND AFTER THAT THE JUDGMENT.” ANYONE WHO IGNORES SUCH TRUTHS AND PRETENDS HE OR SHE IS GOING TO LIVE FOREVER IS DELUSIONAL.

GEORGE HARRISON’S BODY WAS CREMATED AND HIS ASHES STREWN IN THE GANGES RIVER. IT DOESN’T MATER WHERE HIS ASHES SETTLE. IT MATTERS A WHOLE LOT WHERE HIS SOUL SETTLES. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
