One of the nation’s top biblical scholars says he hopes a new, groundbreaking documentary series about the Bible helps spark a “revival” of the mind among Christians, leading them to want to learn more.

A filmmaker who has been involved in some of the most popular faith-based movies says Hollywood is pouring more resources into Christian films because of their success at the box office.

The box office hit Jesus Revolution is now a home video hit, too. Jesus Revolution climbed to No. 1 in the United States in DVD/Blu-ray sales and a separate Blu-ray-only chart according to data released during the first week this month, topping such titles as Cocaine Bear, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Top Gun: Maverick. In its second week of release, Jesus Revolution dropped only to No. 2 on both charts. Media Play News first reported the data.

The faith-based hit Jesus Revolution passed $40 million at the box office Monday thanks to another solid showing and is now the highest-grossing movie since 2019 for its studio, Lionsgate.

Faith-based filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick, fresh off the release of their eighth movie, say they plan on making films as long as God leads them and already have plans for a new title that will be produced in 2023.
