Anti-Trump Group Plans to Cause 'Serious Disruption' if Trump Wins Election

With the 2020 presidential election just one week away, protestors are planning to do whatever it takes to see President Trump leave office no matter the outcome of the election.

The group, known as Shut Down DC, has outlined what they plan to do on Election Day and in the days to follow.

According to CBN News, the group claims that Trump plans to steal the election and will not concede if he loses.

“Trump has shown that he will stop at nothing to maintain his grip on power. Trump will not leave office without mass mobilization and direct action,” Shut Down DC’s webpage states.

On Nov. 3rd, Shut Down DC is calling people to meet at Black Lives Matter Plaza in downtown Washington D.C, nearby St. John’s Episcopal Church.

“On Election Day, when you’re done voting, doing election protection, or getting out the vote, come join us at Black Lives Matter Plaza,” the group states on their website.

“We’re inviting everybody who agrees with these organizing principles to work together to make this uprising happen. We’re going to make sure Trump leaves. From election night on, as the situation changes and evolves we all work together to make that happen.”

The group also told followers who are not in DC to likewise take action in their own communities.

"Organize in your community! Find out where the votes will be counted where you live. Make a plan with others to get there and stay until all the votes are counted. And come up with a plan to create serious disruption if Trump really tries to steal the election!"

Additionally, Shut Down DC created a “Call to Action” on Nov. 4-7 as they plan “to do whatever it takes!”

“In the days following the election, we'll continue to come out into the streets every day to respond to rapidly changing events. We may be waiting for votes to be counted or we may be responding to major attacks on democracy. Over the next few weeks we'll use our Spokes Council process to plan actions that are flexible and can scale to respond to a lot of different scenarios,” according to the group’s webpage.

Then on Nov. 8-11, they stated that there will be “no more business as usual” as they plan to meet with Congress members who are returning to DC to return to session.

“If Trump is trying to launch a coup, that’s no time for business as usual,” the group’s website reads. “We’ll meet them at the train station or the airports or if they drive into town we can meet them at their homes. And if Trump has already conceded, then we can pivot and use these actions to demand COVID-19 relief and other essential legislation!”

A slideshow on Shut Down DC’s page shows that they are working with leftist groups across the country, including Black Lives Matter DC, in preparation for what they plan to do after the election.

According to CBN News, the group also offers multiple ways for its members to receive training on the timeline to a meltdown simulation, escalating resistance in times of crisis and Direct Action.

Recently, Shut Down DC protested outside of Sen. Lindsay Graham's (R-SC) house before sunrise in light of Judge Amy Coney Barrett's Supreme Court nomination.

“We protested outside Lindsey Graham's DC residence because he's undermining democracy by jamming through another right-wing Supreme Court justice,” the group wrote on their Facebook page.

The group also posted a photo of them protesting outside the senator’s house, and a quote from Graham himself saying that “the angry mob attacked my house.”
