Jim Caviezel: Trump 'Is the New Moses,' Would Fight Child Sex Trafficking

The star of the box office hit film Sound of Freedom says he believes Donald Trump is key to fighting child sex trafficking and is even comparing him to Moses.

Jim Caviezel, who portrays Tim Ballard in Sound of Freedom and earlier starred in The Passion of the Christ and Paul: Apostle of Christ, told Fox & Friends that more can be done to fight child sex trafficking.

"We have to do a lot more. We've got to start with Donald Trump," Caviezel said.

Asked to explain what he means, Caviezel added, "He's got to be in there because … he's gonna go after the traffickers."

"Do you think he understands?" host Brian Kilmeade asked.

Caviezel then explained that Trump had watched the movie during a private screening the previous night.

"This is the new Moses," Caviezel said, smiling. "I mean, I'm still Jesus, but he's the new Moses."

Sound of Freedom is based on a true story and follows an ex-federal agent who devotes his life to rescuing children in foreign countries from sex trafficking.

The movie passed $125 million in total gross Monday.

"You want to make something that's a phenomenal piece of work. But the timing has to be right as well. And when this was finished back in [20]18, we had it ready to go in 19 and then COVID hit," Caviezel said. "... And right now, the American people are pretty much fed up with quite a bit, a lot of stuff."

The film's producer Eduardo Verastegui said the movie represents eight years of his life.

"I put my life in this movie because this movie is bigger than ourselves," he said.

At first, Verastegui made a deal with Fox. But that deal vanished when Disney bought Fox. Verastegui said Disney told him, "This material doesn't resonate with us."

Eventually, he formed a partnership with Angel Studios.

"I was praying to God for an angel to come and rescue this film," Verastegui said. "And what are the odds that from all the studios, the one that picked this movie is called Angel Studios?"
