A new docuseries about the Duggar family and their controversial religious beliefs will be released next month on Amazon Prime Video.
Jill Duggar Dillard is the latest Duggar daughter to share her account of her religious upbringing in the upcoming Prime Video limited docuseries, "Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets."
"There's a story that's going to be told, and I would rather be the one telling it," she says in a trailer for the upcoming series.
The trailer highlights the controversial teachings of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLB), a conservative, non-denominational Christian organization led by disgraced pastor Bill Gothard.
"The IBLP teachings aren't Christianity," one former IBLP member says in the trailer. "They're something entirely different."
"Gothard turned every father into a cult leader and every home into an island," another ex-member added.
Jill's story comes months after her sister, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, addressed her experience in her book, "Becoming Free Indeed: My Story of Disentangling Faith from Fear," which was released in January.
"When you grow up in a tight-knit community where everyone believes the same things about everything—not just who God is, but also how men and women are supposed to dress and speak—it's hard to even consider the possibility that what you were taught was wrong," Jinger wrote in one chapter.
She added that the teachings of the IBLP caused "exhaustion and fear in my life."
The Duggar family, who rose to prominence through the TLC reality series 19 Kids and Counting, faced controversy after it was revealed that the oldest son, Josh Duggar, molested four of his sisters and one babysitter as a teenager.
"It breaks my heart to think about the girls," a voice is heard saying in the trailer. "It's like the epitome of evil."
According to US Weekly, Josh is currently serving a prison sentence in Texas for receiving and possessing two counts of child pornography. He is expected to be incarcerated until 2032.
