Biden Vows to Restore Roe, but Disputes Trump's Claim That He's for Abortion-on-Demand

President Joe Biden recently refuted former President Trump’s claim that he supports “abortion on demand” even though Biden vows to restore Roe v. Wade.

"And, by the way, I love how Trump is now saying, 'Biden is for abortion on demand,'" Biden said during a Sunday campaign rally in Las Vegas.

"Not true. That's not what Roe v. Wade said. It said there are three trimesters and how it worked. Trump and his MAGA friends are dividing us, not uniting us,” he continued.

Biden also highlighted his administration’s policies, including its efforts to deal with inflation, The Christian Post reports.

During the event, the President denounced Trump for attributing himself for removing Roe v. Wade back in June 2022, a decision Biden argued “has taken away a woman's right to choose."

According to a recent Marist Poll conducted on behalf of the Knights of Columbus, almost half of Democrats expressed support for considerable abortion restrictions of the first trimester of pregnancy. The poll also found that over two-thirds of Democrats were in favor of a ban on late-term abortions.

Meanwhile, 32 percent of Democrats believed "abortion should be available to a woman any time she wants one during her entire pregnancy," with the rest supporting limits. Another finding is that 19 percent of Democrats said that "abortion should be allowed only during the first six months of a pregnancy," while 49 percent supported greater limits on abortion.

Out of the 49 percent who believed in greater limits, 29 percent said that "abortion should be allowed only during the first three months of a pregnancy." Slightly over 1 in 10 (13 percent) believed that "abortion should be allowed only in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother," and 3 percent said that "abortion should be allowed only to save the life of the mother."

An additional four percent of respondents said that "abortion should never be permitted under any circumstance.”

The poll, conducted from Jan. 6 through Jan. 9, surveyed 885 registered voters.
