'Preachers of LA' Returns for Season 2 Amongst Controversy

Controversial show “Preachers of L.A.” will soon return for its second season, though many Christians are concerned that the reality TV program is making a mockery of religion.

Oxygen Media senior vice president of original programming and development calls “Preachers of L.A.” a documentary of “larger-than-life characters who are rock stars in their communities with a fresh, unique perspective that will resonate with our young audience.”

A large number of Christians feel differently, as a group called Christians Against Preachers of L.A. issued a petition to cancel the show last year. "Biblical prosperity is not about wealth building. This is a poor representation of the Kingdom of God. These preachers' lifestyles are NOT promoting Christ[-like] ethos but rather their cars, homes, relationships and their justification on why they want viewers to see them as having fleshly desires as everyone else does,” the petition read.

Several nationally-recognized pastors have spoken out against the reality show as well.

One of the featured pastors on the show, Deitrick Haddon, wrote on Twitter, "If your pastor's message is all about #PreachersofLA this sunday I recommend that you find another church. Preach the word & that's all!”

Season one featured five Southern California-based clergy members. It is unknown if season two will follow the same pastors or a different group.
