A Christian couple who lost their homes in Hurricane Sandy has won the lottery. Christian Today reports Mary Anne Daino and Dennis Klaus were living separately in New York City when the hurricane struck in 2012.
After the storm, the couple moved into a trailer in Connecticut.
“Connecticut took all us in with open arms and hearts," Daino said.
The couple won $250,000, and will keep about $180,000 after taxes. They plan to use the money to purchase a new home in Connecticut.
"We don't consider it money," Klaus said. "We consider it a home. It's a home. It's not to be spent. It's where we're going to live together and start a new life.”
Daino said remaining faithful during hardships kept them going.
"You have to keep the faith because there is life afterwards and there's a wonderful life waiting," she said.
