An Israeli-American recently launched a new initiative in which people can pray for those taken hostage by Hamas.

Yael Bar-Shov, an Israeli-American who has lived here for 40 years, told CBN News that God told her to launch the prayer initiative that would become known as Adopt-a-Hostage-For-Prayer.

“Just a few days ago, I woke up, sat straight up in bed, and heard from the Lord ‘adopt a hostage for prayer,’ and I instantly knew it was a mandate from the Lord,” Bar-Show, a former paramedic instructor and reserve police officer, said in a recent interview.

On Oct. 7. Hamas launched a terrorist attack on Israel, killing more than 1,400 people. In addition, the group took more than 240 hostages.

Although Bar-Show acknowledges that there is much prayer for the hostages going around the world, she said that her newly launched initiative offers a more personal touch. For instance, the website kidnappedfromisrael.com features pictures of the hostages that can be downloaded and prayed for.

“The suggestion is to print one picture and post it wherever in your home in your car and concentrate that the Lord would really minister to that person, that child that Holocaust

survivor,” she explained.

“I knew there was something special about each and every person adopting one person for focused, intensive, committed prayer,” Bar-Shov added.

According to its website, kidnappedforisreal.com is an initiative that was “powered by the dedication of people worldwide.”

“This project is powered by the dedication of people worldwide,” the website states. Thousands of activists from across six continents, spanning from Sydney, Australia, to major European capitals, and including more than 30 states in the US, South America, Asia, and Africa, are united with one goal: to bring these individuals back home safely. After witnessing the horrors of this terror attack, we can no longer sleep at night until these kids, women, the elderly, and entire families are safe. Can you?”
