The Bible-based global hit television series that has been viewed by 100 million people worldwide is now available in hundreds of America’s prisons thanks to a new partnership.

The Chosen, the popular series that follows the story of Jesus and His followers, began streaming in more than 300 prisons nationwide in April through Floodlight, a closed-circuit video streaming service that was developed by Prison Fellowship.

Inmates at prisons in 38 states now can stream or watch a DVD copy of The Chosen for free, thanks to a partnership between Prison Fellowship and the Come and See Foundation, according to a news release shared with Christian Headlines.

“This life-changing television series that has become a phenomenon around the world will soon be available to tens of thousands of incarcerated men and women on the Prison Fellowship Floodlight platform, thanks to the Come and See Foundation,” said James Ackerman, president and CEO of Prison Fellowship. “We are more than thrilled to make this high-quality, Gospel-focused production available to those in prison. Our prayer is that it will impact more lives as it already has the more than 110 million people around the globe who have viewed the series.”

Stan Jantz, CEO of the Come and See Foundation, said he prays the partnership will impact lives.

“We are honored and excited to be partnering with Prison Fellowship so The Chosen can be viewed by inmates across the country,” Jantz said. “We pray that those who are captive will find hope and healing through Jesus as they watch The Chosen.”

Floodlight also includes content from Alpha, Celebrate Recovery, the Global Leadership Summit and Courage for Life, according to a news release. Additionally, it includes “shoutouts” from athletes, musicians and other notable people.

The Chosen has reached an estimated 108 million people worldwide since the launch of Season 1, according to its distributor, Angel Studios. Total streams topped 500 million in recent months, according to the studio.

Filming on Season 4 began in late March.
