According to The Christian Post, a spokesman for the group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar told NBC News that the group is planning "more devastating attacks that will target Christians and other religious minorities as well as government installations."
Ehsanullah Ehsan, the spokesman, also said the suicide bomber’s name was Salahuddin Khorasani and called him a martyr.
Khorasani was one of a pair of suicide bombers who blew themselves up outside of a church in Pakistan after Sunday mass. The attack killed 73 people, mostly women and children.
Ehsan said the attacks were retaliation against the government, specifically for injuring their leader Maulvi Omar Khalid in NATO airstrikes two years ago.
"We decided to teach a lesson to the prime minister Nawaz Sharif for launching military operation against us," Ehsan said.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani government has promised justice for the victims.
"We strongly condemn the attack in Lahore and express our deepest condolences to the families of all the victims. We must join together to tell our clear horror of such acts of inhumanity," read a letter by Mohamed Fatris Bakaram, the Mufti of Singapore, sent to the country's Roman Catholic Church.
