Washington D.C. Easter Sunrise Service Expected to Attract Thousands

About 6,000 people are expected to attend the 37th annual Easter Sunrise Service at the Lincoln Memorial on April 5. The service, headed by Capitol Church, begins at 6:30.

Pastor Amos Dodge said, "We keep it pretty pure and simple. We're there for one purpose: Not to grow our church, no political spin; we're there to declare to the city, the nation and the world that Christ has risen."

This year, Newsboys singer Michael Tait will lead thousands in the worship song and proclamation of faith, “We Believe.”

"We believe in God the Father

"We believe in Jesus Christ

"We believe in the Holy Spirit

"That He's given us new life."

Breaking Christian News reports the event began with only 100 people in attendance. It has now grown into a service that is attended by Christians from across the country and was named one of the top 50 things local D.C. residents should include on their bucket lists.
