In a recent study, researchers found that 25 percents of children under the age of 12 have viewed internet pornography. The survey was conducted for a BBC3 documentary that will air April 10.
The survey questioned 1,000 young people ages 16 to 21 and the following statistics were gleaned from the results:
-
20 percent of survey-takers first looked for porn online on purpose
-
37.6 percent found porn online accidentally
-
1 in 4 survey-takers were showed explicit content by another person
-
7 percent first saw pornography before 10 years of age
The documentary titled “Porn-What’s the Harm?” will explore issues that pornography introduce including objectification, body image and wrongful perceptions of what real-life sex is actually like.
In recent years, pornographic magazines sales have dropped drastically; Nuts magazine was forced to shut down entirely. But it seems that pornorgraphy has not lost interest, it is just easier to obtain for free online.
