Franklin Graham Urges Obama to Secure Saeed Abedini's Release

Franklin Graham is urging President Obama to secure the release of imprisoned pastor Saeed Abedini. In an open letter, Graham told Obama that Abedini does not deserve to be in prison for his Christian faith and it is the President’s responsibility to secure his release.

Graham posted the letter to his Facebook page, according to The Christian Post.

He wrote, "Mr. President, American pastor Saeed Abedini has been imprisoned in Iran for two-and-a-half years, and last week he suffered another severe beating at the hands of inmates.”

"His life is continuously threatened not only because he's an American, but also because he's a Christian. This was why he was arrested — and he has been told his only way out is to deny Jesus Christ.”

Graham then referenced Mohamed Soltan, an Egyptian-American who was released from prison after White House intervention.

"Soltan worked on your campaign and his father was a prominent member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Mr. President, I hope you'll do the same to help Saeed Abedini — who is guilty of nothing, was sentenced to eight years in prison, and whose only affiliation is with the Lord Jesus Christ," he said.
