5 Reasons Leaders Fall
I have no intention of throwing rocks at other leaders who fall, for there but by the grace of God go I. But I do have a desire to keep other pastors from falling—including myself. I have a vantage point from nearly four decades of filling the role of a pastor. That means I have not only observed the temptations of my own life, but have also witnessed, often in up close and personal ways, the train wrecks that have sadly befallen others. So here are five reasons pastors fall.

5 Examples of Shadow Racism

5 Examples of Shadow Racism
When it comes to a theology of race, there are four headlines: 1) We were all made by God; 2) We were all made in the image of God; 3) We were all made with distinction and variety—including the color of our skin; and 4) We are called into a relationship with God the Father by the Holy Spirit through Jesus the Son. This is why the Bible makes the following declaration: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28, NIV).

5 Things Pastors Need to Stop Doing Immediately
Pastors, we are not just cheerleaders, we are game-changers. We are called to stir and to convict so that change takes place. They have lost the compass of truth - many are more concerned about wine tasting and craft beers than truly seeking the heart of God.

5 Questions Every Church Should Be Asking
A recent article in the Atlantic cited 17 questions every college should be asking. The point was that “we need a serious conversation about the future of America’s universities.” They're right. We do. And there are questions we can be asking of the church, too.

Woke: Why Pastors Need to Address Racism Now
If you are a teaching pastor of a church, or in leadership of a church, this blog is for you. Everyone else can eavesdrop. You need to do a series on race and racism. And you need to do it soon—as soon as you can. Racial division is our culture’s most pressing concern, and it is a deeply biblical and spiritual issue.

Game of Thrones: What Should a Christian's Stance Be?

Game of Thrones: What Should a Christian's Stance Be?
Amazingly, one youth leader said this years ago, “I don’t worry about what I watch or listen to as long as my heart is right. Plus, I need to watch what everyone else is watching so I can relate to them.” This is a very dangerous view. Most will admit, however, that this statement is really just an excuse to cross the line when it comes to entertainment. Let’s be honest: many rationalize watching and listening to very questionable material, not because they want to relate to others, but because they enjoy it.
