Thursday is the National Day of Prayer, and this year, due to the coronavirus will be different from years past. Instead of gathering in person to pray together, Facebook and Zoom prayer meetings have been scheduled for throughout the day.
Frank and Sherri Pomeroy helped lead yesterday’s National Day of Prayer service in Washington, DC. The service came just two days before the six-month anniversary of the shooting that took the lives of twenty-six members of Pastor Pomeroy’s church, the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas.
Long a celebration of evangelical influence in Washington and beyond, speakers at this year’s National Day of Prayer observance decried what they saw as America’s moral decline, in particular the acceptance of same-sex marriage.
