On April 13, 2029, a 370-meter wide asteroid formally known as 99942 Apophis will pass by Earth at a distance of about 19,000 miles. While 19,000 miles sounds like a long way away, in astronomical terms it’s actually the equivalent of having a bullet whiz by your ear. There are man-made satellites that orbit farther from Earth. Even scarier, it was initially believed there was a slight chance Apophis could strike the Earth in 2036. That’s why, when the asteroid and its trajectory was discovered in 2004, scientists named it after the Egyptian god of chaos who, by the way, is also the villain in the TV series, Stargate-SG1.

In a YouTube video last month, Australian pastor Stephen Cioccolanti claims the connection between the presidency of Donald Trump and periodic lunar eclipses known as “blood moons.”

Pastor Bartholomew Orr, of Brown Baptist Church in Mississippi, didn’t walk onto the church stage Sunday morning. He zip lined into the sanctuary.

The blood moon will last for 103 minutes, the longest “blood moon” lunar eclipse of the century, lasting 26 minutes longer than the last total lunar eclipse, in January. Although most of the world will be able to see the blood moon, most of North America will not.

The past couple years have bought some spectacular astronomical sights which will continue in 2018 with a blood moon which is set to grace the skies of the Eastern Hemisphere on the night of July 27.

The message to the church is clear: we’d best be about the Father’s business. That means praying in the name of Jesus that He would change men’s hearts and spreading the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ—not sitting on our pompous piety, waiting for the trumpet and deliverance from the presence of evil.

God’s first judgment came by water, but the coming and final judgment will be by fire. God still offers mercy, grace, and pardon because of the shed blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, to all who hear, believe, and trust Him for forgiveness.
