Planned Parenthood's 2019-20 Annual Report Found Record Numbers of Abortions Performed, Increased Gov't Funding

Planned Parenthood’s 2019-2020 annual report found that there were record-breaking numbers of abortions and increased government funding between 2019-20.

The report, which was released last week, reveals that the abortion giant performed a record-breaking 354,871 abortions, an increase from 345,672 abortions between 2018-19.

Regarding government funding, Planned Parenthood received $618.1 million in government health services reimbursements and grants in 2019, a minor difference from the $616.8 million awarded the previous year.

Despite the pandemic halting some of its services, Planned Parenthood continued to have its facilities open throughout 2020, a move that was praised by many.

“The first days of the pandemic gave us a peek behind the curtain into a world without Roe,” Planned Parenthood said in the report. “We saw people drive 15 hours from Texas to Colorado for abortion. In states where access exists in name only, people still seek abortion.”

The release of the annual report was met with a negative reception by pro-life leaders, The Christian Post reports.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List asserted that abortion is Planned Parenthood’s business, “not health care.”

“With Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House, we can expect this alarming trend to continue as Democrats seek to force taxpayers to bankroll abortion businesses at home and abroad, roll back FDA safety precautions on dangerous abortion drugs, and convert every pharmacy and post office into an abortion center – reversing decades of pro-life progress,” she warned.

The SBA list noted that Planned Parenthood abortion numbers were the highest in 15 years.

Nevertheless, Dannenfelser contended that the pro-life movement will “work tirelessly” in exposing the “Democrat’s extremism” on abortion.

“We will never quit fighting to stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry and provide the life-affirming alternatives women and families deserve,” she continued.

Chuck Donovan, who leads SBA List’s research organization, the Charlotte Lozier Institute, lamented the “tragedy” that abortions “continue to increase at Planned Parenthood even as they decline all across the country.”

He argued that women are paying “a very heavy price” so that the abortion giant would “achieve its quotas and goals.”

Abortions aside, Planned Parenthood also provided services for transgender patients in 31 states, according to its annual report. Although hormone therapy is available to transgender individuals at 200 Planned Parenthood locations, the exact number of these services were not listed.
