Paul Pelosi's Accused Attacker Held in Jail without Bail as Investigation Continues

On Tuesday, San Francisco Judge Diane Northway ordered that David DePape, the man accused of attacking Nancy Pelosi's husband last Friday, be held in jail without bail as investigations into the attack continue.

According to The Christian Post, DePape faces attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with serious bodily injury, first-degree burglary, violent felony enhancement and elder abuse charges.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, DePape is accused of attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer at his home early Friday morning.

"At approximately 2:27 a.m., San Francisco Police Officers from Northern Station were dispatched to the residence of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for an 'A-priority' well-being check," the statement reads.

"When officers arrived on [the] scene, they encountered an adult male suspect and Mrs. Pelosi's husband, Paul. Officers observed Mr. Pelosi and the suspect, each with one hand on a single hammer. Moments later, the suspect gained control of the hammer and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi with it," the statement added.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, DePape said he broke into the home because he wanted to talk to Nancy Pelosi. He reportedly told police he wanted to hold the House speaker hostage and speak with her.

"If Nancy were to tell DePape the 'truth,' he would 'let her go,' and if she 'lied,' he was going to break 'her kneecaps,'" the complaint stated. "DePape was certain that Nancy would not have told the 'truth.' During the interview, DePape articulated that he viewed Nancy as the 'leader of the pack' of lies told by the Democratic Party.

"DePape also later explained that by breaking Nancy's kneecaps, she would then have to be wheeled into Congress, which would show other members of Congress there were consequences to actions."

As reported by Independent journalist and former California gubernatorial candidate Michael Shellenberger on his Substack account, DePape "lived with a notorious local nudist in a Berkeley home, complete with a Black Lives Matter sign in the window and an LGBT rainbow flag, emblazoned with a marijuana symbol hanging from a tree."

Shellenberger recalled a conversation he had with one of DePape's neighbors, who described the suspect and his family as "very radical activists" who have "called the cops on several of the neighbors" and alleged that they were "plotting against them."

"I've been aware of him for a long time because he was associated with the public nudity folks in the Castro [district]," State Sen. Scott Weiner of San Francisco added.

According to Fox News, DePape was originally born in Canada and moved to the U.S. about 20 years ago as an illegal immigrant. While in the U.S, he had a relationship with Oxane Taub, who is currently incarcerated in a women's prison for the attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old boy.

"He is mentally ill. He has been for a long time," Taub, who had two children with DePape, told ABC7 in an interview.

She also recalled how DePape disappeared once nearly a decade ago and "came back in very bad shape."

"He thought he was Jesus" and "was constantly paranoid, thinking people were after him," she added. "It took a good year or two to get back to, you know, being halfway normal."

When asked whether DePape ever displayed "any aggression toward politicians" or held "extreme political views," Taub answered, "When I met him, he was only 20 years old, and he didn't have any experience in politics, and he was very much in alignment with my views."

DePape also had a blog at the link godisloving.wordpress.com, which was captured by the internet archive Wayback Machine before it was taken offline. The blog's homepage reads, "Welcome to Big Brothers Censorship Hell."

"The reason we have a first amendment is because censorship only applies to you. The elites/ruling class never censor themselves," the blog reads." You can still turn on any mainstream news channel to hear day and night the narrative put forth by the people who rule you."

The website added that "the founding father built-in protection against censorship coming from the government because they never imagined a day when Tech giants and private industry would be so powerful they could single-handedly silence the people."

DePape is slated to return to court on Friday. During a hearing in the San Francisco Superior Court, DePape's attorney, Adam Lipson, entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of the suspect.
