‘I’m So Honored’: Anne Wilson Nominated for Six Dove Awards, Including Songwriter of the Year

Christian singer and songwriter Anne Wilson has been nominated for six Dove Awards this week as part of this year’s GMA Dove Awards ceremony.

Wilson, who released her debut album “My Jesus” in April, was nominated for Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year, and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year.

“You guys!! I’m so honored to be nominated for SIX Dove Awards. Thank you to everyone who supports my music and has been on this journey with me. This is incredible!” she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.

In the same post, the 20-year-old singer posted a video where she breaks the news to her parents.

“I can’t believe what God has done. That’s so incredible!” Wilson’s mother Lynn said as she can be heard crying over the phone.

The 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards will take place live on October 18th in Nashville, Tennessee. The event will air live on TBN as well as the TBN app.

Other Christian artists who received nominations include Matthew West, Maverick City Music, FOR KING + COUNTRY, and Phil Wickham.

As reported by Faithwire, Wilson also won Female Artist of the Year and Breakout Single of the Year for her debut hit single “My Jesus,” at the K-LOVE Fan Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, this spring.

In a recent interview with CBN’s “Faith vs. Culture,” Wilson opened up about the loss of her brother in a car accident in 2017, as it would ultimately prove to be the catalyst of her musical career.

“Losing Jacob changed everything for me,” she told the outlet. “I gained a new perspective on life that I had never had. I realized how short these years on earth are, that heaven is the final destination, heaven is where I want to work towards. I want to tell people about Jesus. I want to work as hard as I can to introduce Jesus to as many people as I can.”

Wilson would come to realize God’s calling on her life during her brother’s funeral.

“I sang at my brother’s funeral for the first time in front of anyone and that was really the moment that I realized God was calling me to music, God was calling me to spread His name, to spread His love around the world,” she explained. “I didn’t know what capacity that would be [in] or what that would look like, but it’s so amazing to look back and see how God used the tragedy of losing my brother to start something so incredible and change people’s lives through my songs and my ministry.”

In addition to music, Wilson is set to release her first book titled “My Jesus” on October 25. The book will address the story behind the song of the same name.
