Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, an ardent critic of former President Trump, lost the primary election on Tuesday to Trump-endorsed challenger Harriet Hageman.
Hageman, a 2018 Wyoming gubernatorial candidate, was projected as the winner in Tuesday's primary after securing 66 percent of the vote over Cheney's 29 percent.
"Wyoming has spoken," Hageman asserted during her victory speech.
"Wyoming has spoken on behalf of everyone all across this great country who believes in the American dream, who believes in Liberty and who recognizes that our natural rights, the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, equal protection, and due process come from God … and the government cannot take them away," she said to cheers.
Cheney was one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump last year. She also served on the House select committee on the January 6 Capital riot.
Further, she was removed from her position as House Republican conference chair last year, according to The Blaze.
After losing the primary, Cheney delivered a concession speech where she hinted at a possible presidential run.
"Abraham Lincoln was defeated in elections for the Senate and House before he won the most important election of all," she said.

Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, received support from some Republican and Democratic lawmakers ahead of the primary.
"There is nothing more important she will ever do than lead the effort to make sure Donald Trump is never again near the Oval Office. And she will succeed," Dick Cheney, who served alongside former President George W. Bush, said in a campaign ad for his daughter.
"After escaping the Capitol on January 6, a few of us huddled in a safe room, glued to a TV in disbelief. It was there that @Liz_Cheney vowed to hold those responsible to account. Her principles transcend politics, and I'm inviting Wyoming Dem and Ind voters to do the same on 8/16," Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota tweeted on August 8.

Bush, along with his former senior advisor and deputy chief of staff, Karl Rove, both made the maximum allowable donations of $2,900 to back Cheney in the primary.
During an interview on CNN last month, Cheney contended that she would ensure that Trump never runs for office again, regardless of the primary outcome.
