On Sunday afternoon, a group of good Samaritans, including a pastor, rescued a man suffering from a medical emergency while locked in his truck on the Atlanta interstate.

As reported by Fox News, passersby noticed a truck moving slowly along the interstate near Georgia State University's football stadium. The driver was slumped over and appeared to be unconscious.

According to video footage of the incident, once the truck stopped, the good Samaritans immediately sprang into action, attempting to smash the windows of his car in order to free the unconscious man.

"I looked over to the right and I saw an older guy driving his car, but he was leaned over. He had passed out," Juordin Carter, who recorded the incident on her phone, told 11Alive.

One of the good Samaritans was Pastor Qua Tucker, who had just finished leading services at his church, Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

"Felt good to see people, strangers rather regardless of race, sexuality, politics, political views or what now come together to help someone else," Tucker said.

His friend, Davian Taylor, associate minister at Welcome Friend Baptist Church, called 911 while trying to remain calm as he stood on the interstate.

"The operator was getting frustrated as I was panicking because you know we are on the highway with all of this traffic coming. It was just a crazy scene," Taylor said.

Eventually, one woman managed to break the truck's rear window, while another woman, Jelani Campbell, kicked the rest of the window down so she could unlock the car door.

Campbell also got ahold of the man's cell phone and called his wife to tell her what had transpired.

"I stayed right there and let her know everything that's going on and what hospital and to follow up and let us know," Campbell said.

Afterward, the truck was put in park, and Carter stayed with the man until an ambulance arrived.

According to an Atlanta police report, the man "appeared to be suffering medical distress."

On Monday, the Good Samaritans told 11Alive that the man's wife informed them that her husband was in the hospital and is doing better.

Pastor Tucker thanked God that there were no injuries and that the truck did not hit other people.

"That was our prayer in the moment, that hey God, let's please make sure this man is okay," he said.
