A Tennessee-based church is calling for prayers as one of its members, former Casting Crowns drummer Andy Williams, recently had his leg amputated following a serious motorcycle accident.

As Christian Headlines reported last week, Williams was on his way to church last Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle while riding on his motorcycle.

In a series of updates on Facebook, his church, Grace Chapel Fairview, noted that Williams "sustained extensive injuries to his brain and body" and was placed on a ventilator. On June 28, the drummer underwent emergency leg surgery, resulting in his leg being amputated above the knee.

The church had also conducted a prayer service for Williams last week, which has over 30,000 views on Facebook.

Pastor Jeff Boyet, who serves as associate pastor, pointed out that the service was seen by people from "India, England, Ireland, and beyond." On July 1, Williams' wife, Kelly, and their family met with the medical team and expressed gratitude for their "constant care to Andy."

Additionally, Boyet explained that as the family heard the medical team's opinions and evaluations on William's condition, the family "felt a tangible peace from the Lord."

In the latest update on Friday, the church shared that Williams underwent surgery that morning for an infection causing "continued fevers."

"The procedure was a success and doctors removed bacteria from his lungs," Boyet explained. "Pray that this will keep his temperature down and the fevers at bay as God continues to heal his body. Continue to pray for complete healing and for the amazing doctors who are working diligently."

To help with financial resources in the upcoming months, a GoFundMe account was set up by Karly Henry on behalf of Williams' wife with a goal of $250,000.

"There are so many unknowns about the future, but we serve a God who knows what Andy will face." Henry wrote. "We want to give Andy, Kelly, Aden, and Asher the financial resources they will need in the weeks and months ahead. We have set a goal of $250,000, but we want to bless this family above and beyond so they can focus on Andy's healing!"

At the time of this writing, the GoFundMe account has already raised $44,187.
