Former President Donald Trump has announced that he will hold a series of campaign-style rallies in four battleground states, with the first taking place in Ohio on June 26.
According to the New York Post, the rally in Ohio will be in support of former Trump adviser Max Miller, who is challenging Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH) in the state's congressional race. Gonzalez was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump following the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
At the time, Gonzalez alleged that Trump was to blame, in part, for organizing and inciting a mob "that attacked the United States Congress in an attempt to prevent us from completing our solemn duties as prescribed by the Constitution."
"During the attack itself, the President abandoned his post while many members asked for help, thus further endangering all present," he added. "These are fundamental threats not just to people's lives, but to the very foundation of our Republic."
This past February, Trump issued a statement citing his official endorsement of Miller.
"Max Miller is a wonderful person who did a great job at the White House and will be a fantastic Congressman," he said. "He is a Marine Veteran, a son of Ohio, and a true PATRIOT. Current Rep. Anthony Gonzalez should not be representing the people of the 16th district because he does not represent their interest or their heart. Max Miller has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"
The upcoming rally will be Trump's first since he spoke at the "Stop the Steal" event on January 6 that preceded the Capitol riot.
In an interview with One America News last month, Trump said that he will hold rallies in Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina and Florida. The former president previously won all four battleground states in the 2016 presidential election and won three of the four in 2020.
A close source to Trump told the New York Post that Trump would hold at least two rallies in June, with a third event likely taking place next month around the July 4 holiday.
Earlier this month, Trump headlined the North Carolina Republican Party's convention and also spoke at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in February. Additionally, he has spoken to various conservative news outlets and personalities, including Fox News's Sean Hannity on Wednesday night.
Trump, who many speculate will run for office again in 2024, also plans on visiting the U.S.-Mexico border on June 30 with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to address the immigration crisis.
