President Joe Biden has announced that he will run for re-election in 2024, setting up a possible rematch with Donald Trump.

Biden made the announcement Monday in a promotional video titled "Freedom." In the video, he echoed his 2020 campaign message of fighting for the "soul of the nation."

"Freedom. Personal freedom is fundamental to who we are as Americans. There's nothing more important. Nothing more sacred," Biden said in the video. "That's been the work of my first term: To fight for our democracy. This shouldn't be a red or blue issue."

"This is not a time to be complacent. That's why I'm running for re-election. Because I know America. I know we are good and decent people," he continued. "And I know we are still a country that believes in honesty and respect and treating each other with dignity. That we're a nation where we give hate no safe harbor. And we believe that everyone is equal, and that everyone should be given a fair shot to succeed in this country."

As reported by Fox News, Biden's announcement comes exactly four years after he announced his 2020 presidential run.

"When I ran for President four years ago, I said we are in a battle for the soul of America – and we still are. The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom, more rights or fewer," Biden said.

"Every generation of Americans has faced a moment when they've had to defend democracy, stand up for our personal freedoms, and stand up for our right to vote and our civil rights. This is ours. Let's finish the job," he added.

Sens. Tammy Duckworth and Chris Coons, Reps. Lisa Blunt-Rochester, Jim Clyburn and Veronica Escobar, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who all served on Biden's initial campaign leadership team, will also serve as national co-chairs for the campaign. Campaign Manager Julie Chávez Rodríguez and Principal Deputy Campaign Manager Quentin Fulks will function in their respective roles.
