California senator and Vice-Presidential nominee Kamala Harris is considered to be the most liberal senator of 2019, according to an analysis by GovTrack.

GovTrack is a nonpartisan organization that was founded by Josh Tauberer in 2004. The group tracks U.S. Congress members and their legislative records, using year end statistics.

The 2019 report looked at the members who served throughout the legislative year (Jan 3, 2019-Dec 31.2019).

In the report card for U.S. senators, each one was given a score from 1 to 100, where number one is most conservative and number 100 is most liberal.

“Our unique ideology analysis assigns a score to Members of Congress according to their legislative behavior by how similar the pattern of bills and resolutions they cosponsor are to other Members of Congress.” GovTrack's website states.

"The score can be interpreted as a conservative-liberal scale, although of course it only takes into account a small aspect of reality," GovTrack added.

Regarding Sen. Harris, D-CA., she was ranked as the "most liberal" out of all the U.S. Senators. Coming in second is Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT., followed by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY, as the third most liberal, and Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-OR., as the fourth most liberal.

On the other hand, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-TN., was scored as the most conservative senator. Blackburn is followed by Sens. Joni Ernst, R-IA, Mike Braun, R-IN., and Ted Cruz, R-TX, in that order.

According to Harris’ 2019 report card, she joined bipartisan legislation “the least often compared to Senate Democrats.”

GovTrack noted that out “of the 471 bills Harris has cosponsored, 15 percent [were] introduced by a legislator who was not a Democrat.”

According to Fox News, The Trump campaign made mention of the report on Wednesday after the New York Times described Harris as a "pragmatic moderate" upon the announcement that she would be Joe Biden’s running mate in the 2020 Presidential election.

“Reminder: GovTrack ranked Senator Kamala Harris the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate in 2019, farther left than Elizabeth Warren, Ed Markey, and even Bernie Sanders,” the campaign sent in an email. “Kamala Harris is a radical left-wing liberal, despite what the New York Times may say.”

“Our analysis is at odds with her documented pre-Congress career of being pragmatic or moderate, and it remains to be seen which part of her career — her actions as a district attorney and Attorney General or her policy proposals in Congress — would be reflected greater in a Biden administration,” Tauberer said, according to The Sacramento Bee.

Additionally, the Trump campaign released a video saying that Harris” is the most radical nominee for vice president in history.”
