The new faith-based film The Case for Heaven has been extended to a two-week at-home release thanks to impressive box-office ticket sales that turned it into a hit.

Featuring Lee Strobel in his quest to learn more about heaven, the film was released in theaters April 4-6 by Fathom Events and became Fathom's top-grossing faith film for 2022 and its 15th top-grossing faith film of all time.

The Case for Heaven can now be purchased at Vimeo.com for home viewing. An April 12 news release said the Sandoval Studios/K-LOVE Films documentary will be on Vimeo.com for only two weeks.

"I am so excited to bring this film to at-home audiences around the world," Strobel said. "If you missed the three-day Fathom event, you still have time to experience the eye-opening testimonies of people who had a brush with death."

The movie is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Strobel and features him talking to experts on the subject.

Near-death experiences are the basis for much of the movie, as Strobel shares stories of individuals who said they visited heaven – or even hell – after nearly dying.

Strobel, who formerly was skeptical of near-death experiences, told Christian Headlines he changed his mind on the issue because some of the claims can be corroborated.

"It's very well-researched," he told Christian Headlines. "… When there's corroboration, I tend to believe it."

"John Burke … has studied 1,000 near-death experiences over the last 30 years [and] has concluded that when you look at what actually takes place in the common near-death experience – and you don't look at how people interpret it, but you look at what they actually experience – it is consistent with Christian theology. That's very powerful."

Strobel also interviews pastor Francis Chan, best-selling author John Burke and the late evangelist Luis Palau.
