'God Using Me in a Different Way': Bills' Damar Hamlin Grateful for Prayers

Less than one week after suffering cardiac arrest and nearly facing death during a nationally televised game, Buffalo's Damar Hamlin on Sunday was tweeting words of appreciation to fans and thanking God for his recovery.

Hamlin's Bills defeated New England 35-23 on Sunday. About two hours before the game, Hamlin stayed positive as he remained in a Cincinnati hospital.

"GameDay … Nothing I Want More Than To Be Running Out That Tunnel With My Brothers," Hamlin tweeted. "God Using Me In A Different Way Today. Tell Someone You Love Them Today!"

Teams around the NFL lifted Hamlin up in their thoughts and prayers. On Saturday, members of the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars gathered to pray for Hamlin before their game. On Sunday, Denver quarterback Russell Wilson and Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James also gathered together to pray for Hamlin before their game. Every NFL team included "Pray for Damar" on their Twitter avatars, according to PBS.

Buffalo enjoyed a storybook beginning to their victory Sunday when Nyheim Hines returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Some saw divine inspiration in the fact it had been three years and three months since the Bills' last kickoff return for a touchdown. Hamlin wears the number "3."

"God's real. You can't draw that one up any better," said Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen.

Tweeted Hamlin, "God Behind All This No Coincidence."

Meanwhile, Hamlin asked that people continue praying for him.

"When you put real love out into the world, it comes back to you 3x's as much," he wrote on Instagram. "The Love has been overwhelming, but I'm thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out. We brung the world back together behind this. If you know me, you know this only gone make me stronger. On a long road, keep praying for me!"
