What to Expect in the Second GOP Debate

The second Republican debate will air tonight at 8 p.m. eastern time. This debate will feature 11 candidates, including Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee, Carly Fiorina, John Kasich, Rand Paul and Chris Christie.

Prior to the prime time debate, a secondary debate will air at 6 p.m. eastern time, featuring the Republican candidates who are polling last -- Lindsey Graham, Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum and George Pataki.

Donald Trump remains leading the Republican candidates, with Ben Carson following closely behind him. The most recent CBS News/New York Times poll showed the candidates at 30.5 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

CNN reports Jeb Bush has the most on the line in tonight’s debate, as he has recently dropped in the polls. Vox analyst Andrew Prokop says Scott Walker will also be seeking to prove himself, as he has slid to three percent.

Carly Fiorina will appear in the prime time debate with top-tier candidates for the first time tonight, after she previously appeared in the secondary debate on Aug. 6.
