Following briskly on the heels of the Jewish New Year comes the most important holiday of the Jewish calendar. Unlike the New Year’s feast, however, the Day of Atonement is a holy day of a much more somber nature.
An Oklahoma City police officer fatally shot a deaf man, 35-year old Magdiel Sanchez, around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday night, despite cries from Sanchez’s neighbors that he was deaf and could not hear the officer.
Rosh Hashanah is simply the Jewish new year. Translated, it means “head [beginning] of the year.”
