The 30th Annual Movieguide Awards recognized the show The Chosen as one of the “most uplifting movies” of the year.

“Wow,” the show’s official Twitter account wrote on Feb. 27. “Last night, Movieguide awarded its Epiphany Prize for Most Uplifting Movie to The Chosen Season 3, Episodes One and Two. It’s an honor, and we’re thankful.”

The Movieguide Awards is sometimes called the “Christian Oscars” and recognizes family-friendly movies and TV shows.

“Now more than ever, we’re bombarded by darkness in media, movies, and TV,” Movieguide wrote in a press release announcing this year's nominees. “Movieguide® has fought back for almost 40 years, working within Hollywood to propel uplifting and positive content. We’re proud to say we’ve collaborated with some of the top industry players to influence and redeem entertainment for Jesus. Still, the most influential person in Hollywood is you. The viewer.”

Terry Crews, actor and former NFL player, hosted the ceremony. Dolly Parton and Candace Cameron Bure also took home awards.

Bure won the Grace Award in Television for her movie A Christmas … Present.

“This award honors the most inspirational performance that best displays God’s grace toward us as human beings,” said Bure in an Instagram post celebrating the news. “My heart is full of gratitude and love.”

Bure’s move also won the award for Best Family Television.

Meanwhile, Dolly Parton was awarded the Epiphany Prize for the most inspiring television show for her Christmas special, Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas.

“It’s so encouraging to see that families are continuing to vote with their dollars,” Movieguide founder and publisher Dr. Ted Baehr said. “They’re choosing to watch content that promotes forgiveness, self-sacrifice, teamwork, redemption, and more positive attributes.”

Other winners included Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which tied for Best Family Movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which won the award for Best Mature Audience Television and Resistance: 1942, which won the award for Best Mature Audience Movies.
