Roy Moore Accuser Added Note to Yearbook Entry

In an interview with ABC News, Beverly Young Nelson admitted that she added the date and location under where Roy Moore signed her high school yearbook.

In November, Nelson held a press conference with Gloria Allred where she accused Moore of trying to sexually assault her in a car behind the restaurant where she worked. She offered the signed yearbook as proof that she knew Moore when he was an Assistant District Attorney in his early 30’s. Nelson was 16 at the time.

Moore and his supporters jumped on the revelation that all of the charges against him are lies. In an initial headline on the story, FoxNews said Nelson admitted to forging the entry. A current version of the story says they changed the headline.

Moore retweeted a now-deleted tweet by FoxNews and commented, “Boyfriend at the time says she lied. Employees of the restaurant say she lied. Customers of the restaurant say she lied. Her step son says she lied. Now she herself admits to lying. Let’s count how many national outlets will ignore the fact that she admits to lying.”

Nelson says the original writing in the yearbook belongs to Moore. It reads, “To a sweeter, more beautiful girl I could not say, ‘Merry Christmas.’ Christmas 1977. Love, Roy Moore, D.A.” Nelson now says she added the writing beneath which says “12-22-77. Olde Hickory House.”

The allegations made against Moore by Nelson and eight other women have played a central role in the special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Moore’s Democratic challenger, Doug Jones, has gained ground in recent polls and millions of dollars have poured into the state to influence voters in the contentious campaign.

Voters in Alabama will head to the polls on December 12th.
