President Trump Confronts ABC Reporter about Lack of March for Life Coverage

David Muir of ABC News conducted the first interview with President Trump Wednesday night. After covering various issues from immigration and refugees to policy to personal interest topics like the carpet President Trump picked for the Oval Office, Muir turned his attention to the Women’s March which took place Saturday.

Muir asked the President, “Let me just ask you while we’re standing outside, could you hear the voices from the Women’s March here in Washington? We know there were more than a million people who turned out, and you are their president now too.

President Trump responded, “That’s true,” prompting Muir to ask if he could hear from the crowds gathered near the White House.

This inquiry led Trump to turn the tables on Muir, confronting him about the media’s selective coverage of marches when pro-life people are involved. “No, I couldn’t hear them, but you will have a large crowd on Friday, too, which is mostly pro-life people. You’re going to have a lot of people coming on Friday. And I will say this, and I didn’t realize this. But I was told. You will have a very large crowd of people. I don’t know as large or larger. Some people said it will be larger. Pro-life people and they say the press doesn’t cover them.”

The President’s point led Muir to backpeddle. “I don’t want to compare crowd sizes again. I- I- I-.”

The President sensed Muir’s discomfort and said, “No, you shouldn't– But let me just tell you. What you do say is that the press doesn’t cover them.”

One press watchdog claims that the media has covered the overwhelmingly pro-choice Women’s March 129 times more than the March for Life.
