Unless a miracle happens, Terri Schiavo will die soon and life will have been re-defined again by a few judges who did not write the constitution, never created life and never gave it meaning.
What we are seeing is how ugly things get when man becomes the measure of all things and only that which man decides is to be considered truth.
There is no truth outside of what man decides is truth.
And yet that "truth" becomes an "evolving standard" as Justice Kennedy recently put it and it serves, not truth, but whim...the personal preferences of someone at a given moment.
When life has no value, then life is not valued.
Killing 40 million unborn babies has softened our resistance to inhumanities.
And now we kill (not let die, but kill) the handicapped and infirm so there will be more pieces of the healthcare pie for the rest of us.
The elderly will be next, as surely as the handicapped have followed the unborn... All in the name of a higher good, which is really a lower evil.
That is the significance and the tragedy of the Terri Schiavo case.
We should have seen it coming.
That we did not, reveals our blindness.
