What Are We Celebrating?

December 23, 2005

Was there really a “war on Christmas” this year? One can always find silly and stupid behavior banning a carol here, or a manger there, but is there a war on Christmas? If there is, it is a materialistic war.

The focus on things has shifted our attention from the baby who grew to be a man, lived a perfect life, took upon himself the sin of the world, died in our place and rose again, proving he was exactly who he claimed to be.

Every other so-called religious leader remains in his or her grave, or will soon be headed there. Only Jesus is alive and is god. Ask yourself where you see that message trumpeted. If you don’t, it isn’t the fault of courts or shopping malls. It’s the fault of those who say they believe it aligning themselves with the commercial messages and secular celebrations. But what are they celebrating? Who are they celebrating? Let’s practice Christmas ourselves more than trying to force those who don’t really believe it to do so.

It’s nearing the end of the year and we at values through media would appreciate your special financial consideration to help these commentaries remain on the air. Thank you and merry Christmas!
