Well Done, Brit Hume

January 6, 2009

Fox News commentator Brit Hume got himself in some hot water when he said what Tiger Woods needs is an encounter with Jesus Christ. Liberal secularists like Tom Shales of the Washington Post are upset. Shales wrote, "Darts of derision should be aimed at Hume…"

This is what we can expect from unbelievers who can curse the name of Christ with impunity, but let someone speak well of him and they are supposedly out of line.

Shales and company think to prefer Jesus over religions is something bad. But Jesus made unique claims about himself and proved them by doing what no other person has ever done: rise from the grave.

In John 15, Jesus warned us we would be hated and persecuted because of his name: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world it would love you as its own…" and, "If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also…they will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me." Enough said, except to say, good for Brit Hume.
