The Root of Our Debt Problem

The Root of Our Debt Problem

Government has become our enemy, not the protector of the rights endowed by God. The debate over the debt ceiling has revealed that truth for all to see. Government has become a giant ATM, giving more and more people what they want instead of telling them, “No, your life and circumstances are your primary responsibility.”

Take California. The state is seeking a $5 billion bridge loan to pay its short-term bills, but Gov. Jerry Brown has just signed a measure that will allow in-state college tuition rates for illegal immigrants.

Legal residents who want to attend California universities, but live out of state, will have to pay higher tuition. Is that fair? Should it be legal? It isn’t fair and it’s now legal. This is about Hispanic votes, of course.

We have a debt problem because government won’t live within its means, or ours. It’s a simple truth. Why is it more politicians don’t get it?
