The President's Thanksgiving Day

That was some Thanksgiving Day surprise visit to Baghdad by President Bush. The troops loved it. His critics were astounded. Democrats who want his job had to praise the visit as a morale builder, but they couldn’t let a compliment go unqualified.

Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts said he hoped that when the president got home he would review what he called America’s failed policy against Iraq.

Would someone please ask Kerry if he would prefer Saddam Hussein back in power? He’d say, “of course not, but I do think we should turn it over to the United Nations.”

The United Nations passed 30 resolutions making various demands on Saddam Hussein and threatening dire consequences if he failed to comply. He did not comply and there were no dire consequences until the U.S. acted and showed the U.N. what dire consequences look like.

The president has said it will be a long fight to defeat terrorists. He has also said we won’t cut and run. Let’s continue to pray for the troops and support the policy so we don’t have to fight them here.
