The Negligence of CBS News

January 12, 2005

What to make of the report that CBS News was negligent in its reporting on apparently forged documents which claimed President Bush lied about his National Guard Service?

I made something of it in my column and will again this weekend on FOX's "News Watch" show.

But there is another point I want to make.

The report reveals an institutional, even terminal, bias at CBS News that is beyond dispute.

Not even liberals can successfully argue that CBS News isn't anti-Bush and tried to use this report to keep him from being re-elected.

The left is blaming FOX News and conservatives for the report, which is like the Muslim fanatics blaming the Jews and America for the tsunami.

CBS can't see its problem because, like Muslim fanatics, all higher-ups at CBS News believe the same things.

They wanted the story to be true, because they didn't want Bush to win re-election.

That's a fact and if this were a court of law, CBS's guilt would be proven by the weight of the evidence beyond anyone's reasonable doubt.
