The Left Misses the Point of Fox News... Again

The big media’s fascination with Fox News channel continues. In a new book, New York Magazine contributing editor Gabriel Sherman attempts to unmask Fox as a tool of the Republican Party in general and conservatives in particular. As with many liberals, he misses the point.

The left never acknowledges that the broadcast networks, major newspapers and academia are dominated by the secular-progressive-left and that Fox News, along with much of talk radio, is a reaction to that. These conservative media entities give expression to a substantial American demographic which was previously shutout, or stereotyped by the left.

I haven't read the book, but I've read excerpts and they are more of what we have come to expect from the left: denial of their own biases and censorship of points of view with which they disagree, and attempts to brand Fox as an illegitimate interloper and occupier of territory they believe should be exclusively theirs. Those days are over. I’m Cal Thomas.
