The Idol of Politics

May 21, 2008

Politics has become the religion of the secularists – and too many Christians. How much time do you watch cable TV, caught up in the Obama-Clinton-McCain race for the White House? And what does it matter in eternity?

All of the fighting is over so many earthly things and while people pay so little attention to eternal things. Yes, I write and speak of politics and earthly events because it’s my job, but I don’t trust politicians. No politician can make my life better. That’s my job – and God’s. No politician can force me to be faithful to my wife. Too many politicians are having trouble remaining faithful to their own wives. How are they going to impose morality on others.

Another thing. Why should the world listen to biblical truth when it denies God? Think about that. Why should people who want same-sex “marriage” listen to Christians talk about God’s will for opposite sex marriage? Too many of us are divorcing in numbers equal to the pagan world. Why should they listen to us when too many of us won’t obey God? Now there’s something to ponder in a fallen world.
